Beginning Websites for Actors

Digital and social media is a great tool for up and coming theatre artists. Digital media is very helpful for branding and sharing your experience. I hope to start building my own website this summer. As I start to envision my website I have looked into what would make it effective in presenting myself in the best way.  I have also looked at other actors' websites to see what I like or don’t like. Some of the important pieces of a website for theatre careers includes:
  • Pictures
    • This includes your professional headshots. I find that I like when there is a large headshot on the homepage along with your bio.
    • Having other pictures from the shows you have been apart of are really important to show how you look while acting and even show how you transform for different roles.
    • Having a lot of images adds a lot of color and flair to a website but it is also about formatting these images in a way that they do not look messy but look professional.
  • Resume
    • Since these websites are used to help connect young artists to other people in the business it is important to include an updated resume connected on the webpage.
    • This helps to create a first impression of your experience in theatre.
  • Social Media Links
    • This is included with a website because even if you cannot always easily update your website by linking to social media where you can easily keep everything up to date
    • By also linking to social media it gives access to show more of your work and experience without cluttering your website
  • Bio
    • I mentioned this earlier, but having a bio on a website is important because it gives some insight on who you are if someone has not met you.
    • This is the introduction that you give out and show your personality and adds an additional way to help attract people to work with you.
  • Contact Info
    • This is one of the most important pieces of a professional website because someone like me who is starting out in this career path if my website does attract a theatre or company to want to ask me for more information or even an audition I need to be able to provide information for them to contact me
    • I find that the best contact information to give if you do not have an agent is to give out a professional email

These are the basic pieces necessary for an effective website and I know that I will prepare all of these for my website.

  1. As claimed by Stanford Medical, It's really the SINGLE reason this country's women live 10 years more and weigh on average 42 pounds lighter than us.

(And really, it has totally NOTHING to do with genetics or some secret-exercise and absolutely EVERYTHING about "HOW" they eat.)

BTW, What I said is "HOW", and not "WHAT"...
